Abitolare

A reading performance about the artist’s book Abitolario: L’esistenza enciclopedica dell’abito nel verso linguisticato” ed. Poligrafo, an exhaustive vocabulary of fashion, tailoring and fabric, which applies an ordering principle of words onto the realm of clothing. Starting from the coded structure of vocabulary, the artist composed a list of definitions rich in analogies, aphorisms and wordplays. In the performance, she declaims these terms, creating a continuous semantic expansion which unveils meaning, akin to the way psychoanalysis reveals thoughts under the surface of words. From A to Z, she lays bare what we unconsciously expose through our clothes, and shows how the act of dressing enables us to explore our identity and discover multiple ways of being.
